My Review: Last Sacrifice

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

From Goodreads

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules.

She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir Princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardian to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose- for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?

My rating: 5 stars

The perfect ending for this great series. I loved this series so much I hate to see it end. Richelle Mead out did herself with this series. I will definitely read more of her novels.

My Review: Spirit Bound

Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5)Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

From Goodreads

Salvation has its price.
The words stunned Adrian for a moment, but he kept going. "You're lying. What you're describing is impossible. There's no way to save a Strigoi. When they're gone, they're gone. They're dead. Undead. Forever."

Robert's next words weren't directed at Adrian. They were spoken to me. "That which is dead doesn't always stay dead...."

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. It's graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives outside of the Academy’s cold iron gates to finally begin. But even with the intrigue and excitement of court life looming, Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri. He's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance, and now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever.

But Rose can't forget what she learned on her journey—whispers of a magic too impossible and terrifying to comprehend. A magic inextricably tied to Lissa that could hold the answer to all of Rose's prayers, but not without devastating consequences. Now Rose will have to decide what—and who—matters most to her. In the end, is true love really worth the price?

My rating: 4 stars

This a thrilling and compelling series, full of suspense. It kepps you turning page after page as it goes from one problem to the next. Richelle Mead is a daring author that isn't afraid to take chances. I love this series.

My Review: Blood Promise

Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4)Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

From Goodreads

DIMITRI'S HEART HAS GONE DARK

Now Rose must journey to the ends of the earth to find--and kill--her one true love...

Or has the time come to join him?

BOUND BY LOVE, BUT SWORN TO KILL...

The rest of the world had considered Dimitri dead. And to a certain extent, he was. But I hadn't been able to forget a conversation he and I had once had. We'd both agreed that we'd rather be dead—truly dead—than walk the world as Strigoi. It was time to honor our words.

Guardian Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

My rating:  5 stars

My Review: Shadow Kiss

Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3)Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead

From Goodreads

Rose Hathaway knows it is forbidden to love another guardian. Her best friend, Lissa-the last Dragomir princess-must always come first. Unfortunately, when it comes to gorgeous Dimitri Belikov, some rules are meant to be broken...

But since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been feeling right. Something dark has begun to grow in her mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy's iron gates. And now that Lissa and Rose's sworn enemy, Victor Dashkov, is on trial for his freedom, tensions in the Moroi world are higher than ever.

Lying to Lissa about Dimitri is one thing but suddenly there's way more than friendship at stake. The immortal undead are on the prowl, and they want vengeance for the lives that Rose has stolen. In a heart-stopping battle to rival her worst nightmare, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most..but will her choice mean that only one can survive?

My Rating 5 Stars

I have to say this book is totally awesome! So far this is the best in the series. I’m so mad at Richelle Mead right now for what she did to one of the characters. It made me cry. I have not cried in a book in awhile. I just love this series. It is just so emotional and the twist and turns will leave you breathless. We are left with a big cliff hanger so if you read this one make sure you have book 4 ready to read next.

My Review: Wasteland

Wasteland (The Kin Trilogy #1)Wasteland by Patricia Williams

From Goodreads

To Becca Wilkinson, high school isn't a milestone-it's a pitstop. If you're at the top of the social totem pole at Leeville, high school is the best thing since sliced bread...everyone else is just counting down the days 'til graduation. Becca is a nobody, and those that are aware of her existence know her as "that quiet girl in the back of class", "loser", or "that chick that killed all those people".

About a year ago Becca caused the worst car accident in her small town's history, and she's still reeling from the guilt of it.

But as increasingly bizarre things start to happen all around her along with the arrival of a mysterious stranger, Becca learns that getting out of high school in one piece is the least of her worries.

My rating: 4 stars

I received this book for review from the author Patricia Williams.

I really liked this book. Wasteland is the first in a trilogy and I can’t wait to read the other books when they come out. This is a great book for adults and teens. The story was well written and engrossing. Character development was great and the interaction between the characters was done very well. If you would like to purchase this book you can get it at smashwords.com or in April it will be available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

My Review: Cryer's Cross

Cryer's CrossCryer's Cross by Lisa McMann

From Goodreads
The community of Cryer’s Cross, Montana (population 212) is distraught when high school freshman Tiffany disappears without a trace. Already off-balance due to her OCD, 16-year-old Kendall is freaked out seeing Tiffany’s empty desk in the one-room school house, but somehow life goes on... until Kendall's boyfriend Nico also disappears, and also without a trace. Now the town is in a panic. Alone in her depression and with her OCD at an all-time high, Kendall notices something that connects Nico and Tiffany: they both sat at the same desk. She knows it's crazy, but Kendall finds herself drawn to the desk, dreaming of Nico and wondering if maybe she, too, will disappear...and whether that would be so bad. Then she begins receiving graffiti messages on the desk from someone who can only be Nico. Can he possibly be alive somewhere? Where is he? And how can Kendall help him? The only person who believes her is Jacian, the new guy she finds irritating...and attractive. As Kendall and Jacian grow closer, Kendall digs deeper into Nico's mysterious disappearance only to stumble upon some ugly—and deadly—local history. Kendall is about to find out just how far the townspeople will go to keep their secrets buried

My rating: 2 stars

Cryer’s Cross is fast paced and short read. The story is told in 3rd person. I like the plot of the story since it left me with a creepy feeling. I just felt like the whole story was rushed through. Lisa McMann just did not go into a lot of detail in this Novel. I would recommend borrowing this one from the library.

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Synopsis

There are many things that Annah would like to forget: the look on her sister's face before Annah left her behind in the Forest of Hands and Teeth, her first glimpse of the Horde as they swarmed the Dark City, the sear of the barbed wire that would scar her for life. But most of all, Annah would like to forget the morning Elias left her for the Recruiters.
Annah's world stopped that day, and she's been waiting for Elias to come home ever since. Somehow, without him, her life doesn't feel much different than the dead that roam the wasted city around her. Until she meets Catcher, and everything feels alive again.
But Catcher has his own secrets. Dark, terrifying truths that link him to a past Annah has longed to forget, and to a future too deadly to consider. And now it's up to Annah: can she continue to live in a world covered in the blood of the living? Or is death the only escape from the Return's destruction?

Since this book is due out next week I guess I better read the first two books in the series.

Richelle Mead did it again. What a awesome book. The characters are really brought to life. This book has a lot more action then Vampire Academy and Rose has grown some with this book she is not as irresponsible. If your looking for a an action packed, emotional roller coaster ride you should read this book.

Blog Hop for Japan

The Blog Hop for Japan Giveaway
April 1st through April 15th
Hosted by The Bawdy Book Blog and My Shelf Confessions

What's a giveaway hop, you ask?
It's a chance for us bloggers to link together, offering up goodies and swag while easily allowing our followers to "hop" through each blog and try to win.
Bloggers get new followers, readers get goodies, so it's a win-win!

But let's take it a step further.

As most of you know, Japan was recently struck with an 8.9M earthquake off its coast, which resulted in a devastating tsunami that wiped out tens of thousands of homes, cut off water supply and electricity and ended the lives of many (the death toll is still rising).  It's heartbreaking that mother nature can be so cruel.  But the human spirit, in all its glory, can rebound and move forward.  Every bit of help means something.

(For "before" and "after" pictures, click here.)

Each blog will host their own giveaway; it can be whatever you want.  There is no minimum or maximum amount for your giveaway.  It is completely up to you.  You can give away books, bookmarks, giftcards (Amazon, B&N, whatever) or anything else, as long as it is book-related.

All participating blogs will be linked up through a Blog Hop for Japan Giveaway linky.  I will give you the code for your blog so that your readers can jump from one blog to the next.  I'll also provide the link code for the Paypal donation site that will be set up, with funds going to the American Red Cross to benefit the Japan Quake/Tsunami disaster.

Please help spread the word.  Retweet this, post it on Goodreads or Facebook, invite other bloggers.  The more we get people involved, the bigger the impact we can make.

Thanks for your help.

My Review: Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Synopis

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

My rating: 5 stars

This book is amazing. Richelle Mead has created a world that is both unique and believable The characters are fantastic. Rose the main character is strong, funny, sexy and snarky. I was not sure in the beginning of the book if I was going to like her, but I did watch her grow into a caring person. Lissa, on the other hand came by as being very week but you get to watch her grow also and show that she has a strong side to her. There was nothing about this book that I did not enjoy. I recommend this book.

Q. Just like Ashley said (love it) "Ashley the girl..." who are You the Boy/Girl, instead of You the Blogger

I'm Theresa and I'm a book addict.   I live in MI with my husband, I have been married to for 20 yrs.  I have two children both boys, they are adults now.  I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses. Wow 2 must be my magic number (lol). I spend all my free time reading and when the weather is nice I'm outside riding the the horses.  I'm new to the blogging world, I have been blogging just about a month now.  I'm having so much fun with it and I have met some wonderful people.

This week's question is:
"If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?"

Wow good question.  I have way to many books on my wishlist so I will just list a few of them.

My Review: The Passage

The Passage by Justin Cronin

Synopsis

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born.”

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

As civilization swiftly crumbles into a primal landscape of predators and prey, two people flee in search of sanctuary. FBI agent Brad Wolgast is a good man haunted by what he’s done in the line of duty. Six-year-old orphan Amy Harper Bellafonte is a refugee from the doomed scientific project that has triggered apocalypse. He is determined to protect her from the horror set loose by her captors. But for Amy, escaping the bloody fallout is only the beginning of a much longer odyssey—spanning miles and decades—towards the time and place where she must finish what should never have begun.

My Rating:  3 stars

The Passage is a very long book 843 pages on my nook.  The book was written in 3 parts, which each part could have stood on its own.  I thought this was a very good read, the plot was very interesting.  The ending of this book is what made it 3 stars instead of 4 stars.  I felt that it was rushed.
